After 8 days in Red Bay, it was finally time to hit the road. While we’re grateful for the excellent service, we were more than ready to begin our adventure.
With our checklist complete and everything secured inside the coach, we pulled out of Red Bay with a mixture of excitement and anticipation.
We did stop for fuel just before leaving Red Bay. It was our first fuel stop in the coach!

As the miles rolled by, Ken gained confidence behind the wheel, and the coach handled beautifully.
The drive from Red Bay to Chattanooga was an easy one, with rolling farmland gradually giving way to the foothills of the Appalachians.
As we traveled across northern Alabama and southeastern Tennessee, we followed portions of the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail.
As we crossed into Georgia, the scenery began to change. The rolling hills gradually gave way to the North Georgia mountains.

About 25 miles outside of Ellijay, Ken noticed that the temperature reading on two tires was really high. We pulled off the road for a few minutes for Ken to check the tires and then decided it was safe to proceed. (Just another thing for Ken to research.) Before getting back on the road, we heard a ssssssss noice in the cockpit. What is that? We listened and tried to figure out where it was coming from. Found it… it was the fan on our seat coolers! We are still learning!
By late afternoon we arrived at the Apple Country RV Resort in Ellijay, Georgia, our home for the next several days. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Ellijay, known for its mountain charm, apple orchards, and beautiful scenery, will be the perfect destination for our first real stop.
After settling in to our RV site, we drove into Ellijay to get a feel for the area. It took us a few minutes, but, we found Ellijay’s Main Street. Historic brick buildings line the streets, housing locally owned boutiques, antique shops, art galleries, and inviting cafés. Flower baskets hang from lampposts

Our adventure has officially begun!
