Closing the Chapter on Red Bay

Sunday June 28, 2026

It’s hard to believe we’ve now been in Red Bay for a full week.

Looking back, we’ve accomplished quite a bit. The warranty items are steadily being addressed, we’ve added a few custom upgrades to the coach, explored the surrounding communities, enjoyed some unique local restaurants, and become much more familiar with our new home on wheels.

Now we’re waiting for what we hope will be one of our final appointments.

The cabinet shop has our table modification on the schedule, and we’re hoping to get in on Tuesday. Once the table is cut down and finished, it will complete one of the last items on our punch list.

We will have to return to Red Bay one more time.  During the build of our coach, the incorrect Starlink was installed.  We will have to return for the correct installation once the Starlink unit arrives.  It should arrive sometime in July.

As much as we’ve enjoyed discovering the Red Bay area, we’re anxious to continue our journey.

After spending nearly two weeks here getting our new coach ready for the road, it was finally time to tie up the last few loose ends.

The highlight of the day was our appointment at the cabinet shop, where the team completed the modification to our dining table. The original table was a little larger than we wanted, and having it resized makes the living area much more comfortable and functional.

We discovered that our door awning needed some adjustment so we add it to our repair list. It was another early morning with a 7 AM appointment. This was the last appointment and it was the quickest.

With the work behind us, we made one last trip to Fulton, Mississippi, for a Walmart run to stock up on groceries and a few necessities before leaving town.

Summer certainly made its presence known. The thermometer climbed to 95°F, but with 55% humidity, it felt more like 97°F

Around 8:45 p.m., the skies opened with a torrential rainstorm. We had wind, rain, lightning, thunder, and a little hail.  Safe inside the RV, we watched the incredible display from our windows, grateful for a sturdy coach and a comfortable place to ride out the weather. It was certainly an unforgettable way to spend our last night in Red Bay.  Best of all, there was no damage.

Where did the water go??? Photo taken 1/12 hours after rain ended.

Tomorrow, we’ll point the coach toward the North Georgia mountains and officially begin the next chapter of our adventure.
