A Stroll Through Ellijay and a Fourth of July Eve Celebration

We spent the early part of the day exploring the charming downtown streets of Ellijay, Georgia. We wandered in and out of local shops and admired the historic buildings.

Next we located the  Panorama Orchards & Farm Market. As we arrived, dark clouds began to gather, and before long it started raining. Thankfully, we were already inside browsing the market’s fresh produce, homemade jams, baked goods, and local specialties.

Of course, we couldn’t leave without picking up one of their famous fried pies. It was warm, flaky, and filled with delicious fruit, Ken purchased the apple. It was the perfect treat to enjoy while waiting for the rain to stop. Before leaving the market we purchased some Peaches.  We were sold after tasting the sample!

In the evening we headed to Buckley Vineyards for their July 3rd celebration. The vineyard was alive with families, friends, music, and the excitement that comes with the Independence Day weekend. July 3 is their largest event of the year and It was already very crowded, but, we found a table next to the bar.  Lucky for us, the bar owner was sitting at the bar next to us.  She was very friendly and she told us about their vineyard, winery, and new restaurant.  She recommended a great wine for us, Sweet Micky (names after her MIL) and we purchased 2 bottles…one to drink and one to take back to the RV!

Gay Buckley, the owner, mentioned that her husband had a “ridiculous” firework display planned.  We decided that the best place for us to watch the fireworks would be from our Jeep. We were parked alongside the vineyard and it was the perfect viewing spot!

As darkness settled over the vineyard, the fireworks began. Brilliant colors filled the night sky, reflecting off the vineyard and hills. The owner was correct…it was a “ridiculously” fantastic firework display!  The fireworks lasted for over 20 minutes…One of the best we have ever seen!

The fireworks were a wonderful ending to a day filled with small-town charm, great music, and delicious wine.

The Fireworks Video is only about 1 minute of the total fireworks display.
