Day 8

The sun was shining and it was 54 degrees as we left Polson, MT, this morning. We drove on Highway 93 through Kalispell and Whitefish as we headed towards Eureka, MT, located 6 miles from the Canadian border. We stopped for one last US diesel fill-up and then drove towards the border crossing at Roosville, BC.
As we approached the border, there was a line of cars watiting to proceed through the one lane checkpoint. No problem at the border. We answered the obligatory questions: Where are you from?, Where are you going?, How long will you be in Canada?, Do you have any Firearms?, Do you have any Liquor?. Have a good Day and wer were on our way! I was slightly disappointed that they didn’t say “Bonjour”!
A few miles before we reached the border, it became cloudy, and as we crossed the border, it began to rain! So much for our beautiful day to view the Canadian Rockies!
We changed our GPS to Kilometers, and headed towards Cranbrook, BC. As the Canadian Rockies came into view, there were a few pockets of snow on the highest peaks. We crossed the Kootenay River and passed Dickey Lake. On up the road, we reached our destination, Fort Steele. We gegistered at the Fort Steel Resort and RV Park and drove to our site.
Later, we decided to drive into town for a couple of things: a jeep tailight bulb, groceries, and Canadian Money. We started out driving the wrong direction and ended up driving to the Bavarian Town of Kimberly, BC. We drove back to Cranbrook and found a Walmart. Our purchase totaled $24 Canadian/$18 US. I told Ken that it wss like shopping at the outlets!
We stopped at and ATM and got some Canadian Money, before heading back to the RV for the night.
