Day 5

July 14, 2019

It rained overnight, but in the morning when we left Pocatello, ID, it was 70 degrees and sunny.  We began our route today on I-15 to Blackfoot, ID.  There we took highway 26 towards Arco.  Craters of the Moon National Monument is located near Arco, but we didn’t stop today.  We visited that amazaing area in 2012 and decided to pass on this trip. At Arco, we took highway 93 to our destination, North Fork, ID.

There was not much to do but sit back and enjoy the ride along the Salmon River and take in the beautiful scenery.

We arrived at the Water’s Edge RV Park in the afternoon.  The RV park is located on the Salmon River Scenic Byway and along the banks of the North Fork of the Salmon River.  It is in the center of the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness that is known as the whitewater capital of the world.  Hmmm…seems like there should be cell service in the area…but there is none.

The Water’s Edge RV Park is also a Pizzeria!  We were told last year that the pizza was delicious, but, we were not there on a night that it was open.  They are open Thursday – Sunday.  On this trip we were able to taste the pizza…excellent!  The pizzeria is very small, but, they were experiencing their best crowds ever…we lucked out and got a seat without a reservation.  Who would have thought that in a town of 300 people, we would need a reservation?

While waiting on our pizza, I was able to brush up on my trivia!

As always, we meet nice people at the RV parks.  Our next door neighbors were from Anderson, IN.  Seems like there is an Indiana connection everywhere!

Back in the RV, we opened the windows and settled in to the sound of the rushing Salmon River.

Tomorrow – Flathead Lake in Polson, MT
