The Family Motor Coach Association and the Deschuttes County Fair and Expo Center welcomed 1800 plus motorhomes to the FMCA High Desert Sunrise Rally, in Redmond, Oregon.  We took advantage of the opportunity to arrive early and were parked and realaxed prior to the rally’s kick-off on Wednesday.  The weather was a hot 96 degrees when we arrived on Monday, but then the rain came on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  We were good sports and didn’t let the rain dampen our spirits.

Our days were filled with seminars, exhibitions, entertainment, and walking to and from our motorhome.  It reminded us of our college days walking to and from class.  The big difference was that attendance was not mandatory and there were no quizzes or grades!

We had 4 days of informational seminars and received tips on Cooking, Writing, Google Maps, Wireless Connectivity, Blogging, Photo editing, Photo organization, and RV Trips and Destinations.  Ken also attended several RV maintenance seminars.  Ken was also lucky and won a free oil change!  Actually, he won the oil and the filter to change the oil himself!

Another highlight was the Motorhome Showcase.  The showcase displayed the new 2015 RV’s and gave us the opportunity to tour all models.  They were awesome!  Fortunately, we still like our 2009 Allegro Bus and didn’t feel the need to purchase a new one!

On Friday the weather cleared and the temperature was pleasant.   Friday evening we attended a VIP Event Party sponsored by Entegra Coach.  We toured their motorhomes and they invited us to a Wine and Cheese party.  The event was located at Faith, Hope, and Chairty Vineyard.  The vineyard was beautiful and we enjoyed the wine tasting, appetizers, and live music.  We attended the event with our friends, Paul and Kathy Waters.  We met them in Quartzite, AZ last January.  They live in Wisconsin but “winter” in  AZ.  We are happy that we were able to connect with them in Redmond.

Saturday saw some attendees heading for home or their next adventure on the road.  Most folks were like us and planned to stay until the end.  The rally closed out Saturday evening with a super performance by Johnny Counterfit, a comedian/celebrity impressionist.  His act included the voices and music of Johnny Cash, Elvis, Hank Williams, Archie & Edith Bunker, Ronald Regan, George W. Bush, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Ed Sullivan, George Burns, Paul Lynd, John Wayne, Bill Clinton, and several others.  It was a very good show!

We had such a great time, and we are already planning to attend another rally in March!
