Prince Edward Island – Final Days

30 Jul

After touring PEI for 4 days, it was time relax and visit some of the areas nearer to our RV Park.

First up was a stop to Boom Burger.  We had seen this place on our first day and later read some great reviews. It was close, so, we gave it a try. It was a casual burger place similar to In-Out- Burger or Five Guys.  The burger choices were a single boom or a doule boom, plus chesese and/or bacon, plus toppings.  The cheese is local from Cows Creamery.  I ordered the single boom and Ken had the double boom.  We shared an order of zesty pepper fries. The fries were maybe the best I’ve ever tasted, cooked up perfectly. They even threw a few extra in the bag on top of everything else. There is no shortage of potatoes in PEI!

We drove into Charlottetown and explored the Historic downtown, Victoria Row, and Peak’s Wharf.  Parking was difficult, so Ken dropped me off near some shops and went on looking for a parking space. He found a spot and caught up with me just as I was finishing my purchase.  As we walked around, we discovered that most of the historic town buildings are food spaces….restaurants, bars, bakery’s, ice cream parlors, etc.  We can only eat so much!

After Charlottetown, we headed towards our RV park, but, we wanted to stop at one more location.  Cow’s Creamery…we have passed by this place every day and today we finally stopped.  The building houses the cheese factory, Ice cream shop and gift store. The parking lot was full, but, we found a parking space.  We entered the Ice cream shop and saw the extremely long line…probably 50+ people.  Everybody loves Ice Cream! We looked at each other and immediately turned around and exited. Maybe Later?

The next day, our last day in PEI, we went to Cows Creamery at lunchtime…Only 4 people in line ahead of us!  Ken selected Wowie Cowie…Vanilla ice cream, English toffee marble, chocolate flakes, and Moo Crunch.  My choice was Peanut Butter Cup, but, that is not what they put in my waffle cone.  My ice cream was loaded with carmel not peanut butter cups.  Whatever, it was delicious!

Note:  Cows was voted as “canada’s best ice cream” and was listed as number 1 in the “Worlds’Top Ten Places for Ice Cream”.

After our ice cream, we stopped by Anne of Green Gables Chocolates.  They had many choices of treats, but, we resisted.  We told ourselves that the chocolate would melt before we could get it back to the RV.

That concludes our trip to Prince Edward Island.  To sum up PEI…flat plains, gentle rolling hills, woodlands, farming communites, fishing villages, sand beaches, Anne of Green Gables, Lighthouses, Potatoes, and Ice Cream.  PEi is very far away from our home and it is very likely that we will never return.
