It was very foggy when we left St. Andrews. I snapped a few photos before we left the Oceanfront Camping RV Park.
As we got closer to Hopewell Cape the sun was peaking thru thru the fog. We arrived at the Ponderosa Pines Campground, our destination for the next 5 nights. We were assigned a long pull thru with gravel and grass..Our site is so long that it seems like another 45’ RV could park with us! Our neighbors that arrived at the same time were also commenting about the size.
From our RV we could see the Bay of Fundy. Since it turned out to be a beautiful afternoon, we decided to check out the campground and explore the trail to get a closer view of the bay. We continued on the trail around the campground lake. As we moved along, we discovered lots of out-of-the-way camping cabins and tenting sites along the trail. It was a nice afternoon walk.
In the evening we sat around a campfire with our neighbors, from St. Catherines, Ontario. They arrived at our campground from vacationing in PEI. They gave us tips and suggestions for our visit to PEI in a few days. It is always fun to talk with other travelers and hear their travel tales.

We were planning to go to Hopewell Rocks today, but, it rained during the night and more rain was expected. Instead of Hopewell Rocks, we drove to Moncton, about 20 miles away.
We went to Moncton to view the Tidal Bore. The Tidal Bore occurs along the Peticodiac River near Moncton and is a naturally occurring phenomenon that is caused by the surging waters from the Bay of Fundy tides which are the highest tides in the world. The tides roar up the Peticodiac River twice daily during the changing tides. The wave of water can vary in height from 3cm to 60cm.
The phenomen was suppose to ocurr around 11:59 +/- 15 min. We arrived to allow time in case it happened early. The wave arrived about 10 minutes ahead of schedule. It was so amazing to watch as the wave came around the curve in the river. Very impressive!
Our next stop was not as impressive but familiar…Costco. As we have seen throughout Canada, Costco is far busier here than in the US. The parking lot is triple the size of our usual Costco, and it was full! There were lots of families shopping, chatting, and congregating in the aisles. There was no way to get our usual pizza at the food court!
Back at the campground, Ken hiked one of the campground trails over to Hopewell Provincial Park. He was hoping to be able to see the Hopewell rocks from the trail. No such luck. The trail ended near the Entrance Gate. At least he enjoyed the 3 mile round trip hike.
