Breckenridge to Creede, CO

This morning it was 47 degrees in Breckenridge, CO!  I’m beginning to question my packing skills, since, I didn’t seem to bring enough clothing for these chilly days.  There might be some sweatshirt purchases in the near future!

As we were exiting the RV Park, I spotted one of those large Adirondack chairs.  For some reason, those chairs always catch my eye. So, before taking off, I had to get photos with the chair.

We were on the road at 10:15 AM for our drive to Creed, CO. Out on the road, the rain began to fall.  A few miles down the road we reached the town of Frisco.  It is a popular town among skiers from around the world. Four major ski resorts are located in close proximity to Frisco: Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, Keystone, and Arapahoe Basin.  As we passed through town, we saw ski slopes, lots of apartment/condo complexes, and several roundabouts.  Roundabouts are not great for a 45’ RV towing a Jeep!

Continuing on our drive, we experience another day of cuvry mountain passes. On highway 91 we drove across the Fremont Pass, elevation of 11,318 feet.

Leadville, CO was also on our route today.  Leadville is surrounded by 13,000 and 14,000-foot mountains and situated at the headwaters of the Arkansas River.  Leadville was once a booming mining camp and is one of the last, preserved mining towns in the state and has more original turn-of-the-century buildings and houses than any other mountain community. We didn’t stop at any of the tourist sites, today. At 10,152 feet Leadville is the highest incorporated city in the United States. Anytime we get above 8000’ in elevation, I can feel it!

The Scenery was spectacular all the way to Creede!

In the early afternoon, we arrived in Creede. We checked into Mountain Views At Rivers Edge RV Resort and Park.  As we pulled into the park, we noticed that there were several vacancies.  When I made our reservations, I only had two spaces to choose from.  I guess the Fuel Prices have become a factor!

Creede will be our home for the next seven days!
