After the FMCA Rally, we traveled 95 miles to Spearfish, South Dakota.  We stayed 2 nights at the Elkhorn RV Resort on the edge of Spearfish. We were only minutes from historic Deadwood and legendary Sturgis.

After getting settled in to our site, we hopped in the jeep and drove 11 miles to Deadwood.  On our drive we saw lots of 3 Wheel Motorcycles/Trikes traveling to and from Deadwood. Once we arrived in town, the 3 wheelers were everywhere!

Deadwood has only one main street and the rest of the town clings to the steep sides of the Canyon.  Deadwood is filled with reminders of it’s lively past as a gold-rush boomtown. In the late 1800’s it was a haven for gamblers and gunfighters…Wild Bill Hickok, Wyatt Earp, Doc Holiday, and Calamity Jane.

The town was bustling with tourists, but, we were able to find a good parking spot for $7.  Our parking fee included 2 coupons for free beer at the Oyster Bar!  What a bargain…especially when all the other parking was $10!

We walked along the main street of Deadwood going in and out of several gift shops.  It seemed as though every gift shop included a bar/casino.  Ken tried his luck on a poker machine, but, he was not a winner today!  In one of the gift shops we had a free sample of Strawberry Moonshine! We decided to spend our money on a Deadwood Magnet for me and a Deadwood T-shirt for Ken.

Before leaving town, we stopped by the Deadwood Event Complex at the 3 Wheeler Rally.  We walked around looking at all the different makes, models, styles, and colors.  It was very interesting!

After a fun afternoon in Deadwood, we returned to the Elkhorn RV Resort!
