Yellowstone National Park – Day 3

1 Jul

June 30, 2021

It was another cold night in West Yellowstone. I think it was in the low 40’s! Thankfully, by the time we got dressed, ate breakfast, and packed our lunch to go, the temps was in the high 70’s. Perfect weather for a drive! Another plus to starting in the late morning…no park entry line!

Today we drove to West Thumb, Yellowstone Lake, and Fishing Bridge. We stopped at the General Store in Fishing Bridge and browsed the souvenirs. We didn’t see anything new since our last visit, so it was a short stop. I stood in the restroom line longer than browsing the store.

On our return drive we stopped a the Lower Falls and Upper Falls to view the Yellowstone Falls. At Lower Falls, there is a place called the Aritist’s Point. I believe it is where artists have painted some of the famous pictures of the falls that we have seen in books and magazines. There was a family with small children painting the falls with water colors. So Cute!

At the Lower Falls there was also a wedding taking place. It didn’t appear as though there were many invited guests, but, there were lots of tourists sitting on the ground witnessing the vows. As we walked up the ramp towards our Jeep, we could hear the cheer from the crowd when the wedding was over.

We drove the Virgina Cascade Loop to view the waterfall and found a picnic area for lunch. After lunch we returned to the RV and enjoyed the remainder of the day relaxing at the RV Park.

On today’s trip, we saw Elk and Bison. The animals always draw a crowd!

We can’t wait for more animal viewing tomorrow!
