After Myrtle Beach, we had 5 days until check in at the Tiffin Motorhome Allegro Club Rally in Columbus, IN. We found ourselves faced with a problem that we don’t usually encounter…where to go and what to do? We thought about staying in Myrtle Beach, but, we couldn’t extend our stay at Pirateland. So, we decided to drive to Lanexa, VA(near Williamsburg) and catch up with Ken’s niece(Christine).
Choosing a campground in busy tourist locations has always been a challenge. During Ken’s research, he found a campground on the Chickahominy River in Lanexa, VA. What luck! Rockahock Campground is just west of the Williamsburg, Jamestown, & Yorktown “Historic Triangle”. We checked in for 2 nights and this was the perfect home base to explore America’s Colonial history.
Once we arrived in Lanexa, we discovered that Ken’s niece had gone to Florida to visit with Ken’s family and only her husband(Dan) was home. We invited Dan to join us for dinner at Walkers Dam Grill. The Italian restaurant was highly recommended and had excellent reviews. Ken and I had the lasagna and Dan was more adventuresome and ordered the Cappellini Bucaniera – angel hair pasta w/ shrimp, clams & mussels in fresh basil marinara sauce. The meals were served with Salad and tasty garlic knots! Excellent food at a good price!

The next day we drove around Williamsburg and saw some of the historic sites. We decided to forego Colonial Williamsburg and save it for a future trip. I would love to do Williamsburg at Christmas!
We drove on campus of The College of William & Mary. The college was chartered on February 8, 1693, by King William III and Queen Mary II of England one is the second oldest college in America. The campus has over 1200 acres full of cozy wooded areas. Most buildings on campus consist of Georgian and Anglo-Dutch architecture. What a Beautiful Campus!
Tomorrow, we will start driving West! We are looking forward to the rally in our hometown of Columbus, IN.
