June 24, 2021
It has been two years since we traveled in our RV. Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, we were forced to stay close to home and social distance. Finally, after 15 months we can travel freely around the country.
Our daughter and family moved to Germany during the Pandemic shut-down and have been in “stay home” mode since they set foot in Germany. In order for the kids to be able to enjoy their summer vacation, they decided to return to the USA for part of the summer. Unfortunately, we already had travel reservations in place, but we arranged to spend two weeks with Leslie and the grandchildren before starting out on our journey.
We said our “good-byes” and “see you laters” and pulled away from our Sun Lakes, AZ home around 10 AM on June 24. On our first day of travel we drove to north to Flagstaff. We made a quick stop in Cordes Jct for diesel fuel and lunch where we encountered rain and cooler temperatures (70 degrees). In Flagstaff, We checked into Black Barts RV Park and then made a grocery run before settling in for the night. We tried to eat our dinner outside and enjoy the cooler temperature, but, it was too cool for us! After last week’s soaring 117 degrees, the 68 degrees in Flagstaff seemed chilly.
Tomorrow, we continue North to Kanab, Utah.
