Our Tiffin Motorhome Rally week is coming to an end. During the week there were Vendor Booths, RV Educational Seminars, Food Trucks, Ice Cream Socials, evening buffet meals, and nightly entertainment. An Allegro Club Store (Tiffin Store)was set up on site where we purchased a few pieces of Tiffin branded items. The rally had a new organizer this year and she added a few new activities…a veteran parade, fireworks, and tethered hot air balloon rides. Of course, there were new coaches on display and for sale. Do people really buy RV’s at a Rally? Yes…but not as many this year as we have seen in the past. Definitley not us!!!
We met some nice people from all over the US and enjoyed exchanging travel stories, favorite places, and future travel plans. We hope to see them “On the Road Again”!
The last two days were free days and we used our time touring the Amana Colonies, the Amish Town of Kalona, and driving the Iowa countryside
The Amana Colonies and its seven villages represent an American Dream come true. It is a thriving community founded on religious faith and community spirit. There are historic homes made of brick, stone, and clapbard representing another age.
Wurst Festival – Held on the Saturday of Father’s Day Weekend…that’s today! The Festival is all about the MEAT! At this festival you can enroll in the Wurst University and graduate with the “Wurst education in Iowa”! You can vote for your favorite sausage, listen to live music, and watch the Dachsund races. In addition, we ate some amazing corn on the cob and a brat. There is a chance we will go back tonight…we still have on our wristbands!
Saturday saw coaches hitting the freeways again as people moved on to their next travel destination. Many coaches remained at the Amana RV Event Center to continue exploring the area. With 50 amp electric, water and a sewer connection, there is no rush to move to another campground. However, we will pack up tomorrow and continue driving east. Tomorrow night we will stop in Carlock, Il.
