We left Pocatello, ID at 10 AM and began the 161 mile drive to West Yellowstone, MT. It was a beautiful sunny day with a temperature of 74 degrees. My weather app said that the Lower Snake River Plain, which includes Pocatello, was under a Heat Advisory thru July 4. The high temps would be 97-100 with overnight temps in the 60’s. Sounds good to us almost Arizona natives! We were definitely looking forward to the cooler Montana weather!
As we were driving along, I saw some very tall mountains in the distance. Soon we realized that the mountains were the Tetons!
We arrived in West Yellowstone at 1PM and checked into the Grizzly RV Park…one of our favorites! After fixing a broken hose connector, we were ready to go see the wonders of Yellowstone National Park. We decided to see Old Faithful first and check it off of our “must see” list. Upon arrival to the Old Faithful area, we quickly realized that we missed the geyser eruption and would have to wait around for the next one…1 1/2 hours! At least we had a front row seat all to ourselves!
Day 1 in Yellowstone National Park
As we were leaving the park, we got stuck in a long line of traffic heading for the exit. It was Elk along the river!!
Looking forward to another Yellowstone Adventure tomorrow!
