On the Road to Yellowstone

We woke up early this morning to begin our drive to West Yellowstone, MT. We drove through Pinedale and continued north. The road traversed the mountainous terrain of the Bridger-Teton National Forest and descended through a narrow canyon. We followed the Snake River valley north toward Jackson, WY.

From Jackson, we took Highway 22 over the Teton Pass. Last week, the pass was blanketed with 8 inches of snow, and I was not excited to take the route. This week, it was beautiful weather with a temperature of 67 degrees!

We crossed into Idaho, via highway 33, and passed through Driggs and Tetonia. Outside of Tetonia, we encountered rolling hills and miles of potato fields. By this time, it had become cloudy, therefore, we  did not have a great view the stunning west slopes of the Teton Range.

We drove through the small towns of Ashton and Island Park Idaho, before crossing the state line into Montana, ending in West Yellowstone. Our destination for the week…Grizzy RV Park!

West Yellowstone is both a winter and summer base camp for Yellowstone National Park. The Park entrance is on the edge of town. With it’s close proximity to our RV park, we couldn’t wait to put our Park Pass to use!

Over the next 6 days, we hope to see some spectacular sights…many we have seen before, but we also hope to see some new things!

I am always on the lookout for odd things … today I saw these unusual things!
