Summer Adventure 2025
Ken and I have been crisscrossing the US in an RV since 1983. Every year we get asked “where are you going this summer?” Since we completed our travel to all 50 US states in 2023, the answer was complicated. After much discussion, we decided that Alaska would be our destination.
Ken spent numerous hours getting the RV ready for our trip and assured me it was serviced, clean, and ready to roll! And, the RV got an upgrade this year…we added Starlink! We can’t wait to see how it performs!
Day 1 – June 2
We pulled away from our home around 11:30 AM driving towards Flagstaff, AZ. We arrived at Black Barts RV Park around 3:30PM. Black Barts is not a fancy RV Park and does not offer many amenities. The campground host was helpful and assigned us to a spot without trees for our Starlink. (We will have to be more selective about site selection due to Starlink). Success…Starlink worked perfectly!

The temperature in Flagstaff was cool and the overnite temp dipped into the 50’s…definitely blanket weather!
Next stop…Kanab, UT
Day 2 – June 3
It was 68 degrees at 10:40 AM when we left Flagstaff. It was sprinkling rain as we left Flagstaff, but, we saw Blue Sky ahead. We drove north on Highway 89 through the Navajo Nation.
We connected with highway 89A at Bitter Springs. On this route we had views of Marble Canyon, Colorado River, Navajo Bridge, Lees Ferry, and the Vermillion Cliffs National Monument. The Vermillion Cliffs are the second level of the Grand Staircase of the Colorado Plateau. The scenery was beautiful all the way to Kanab!
Next stop…Beaver, UT

In Kanab, we checked into the Grand Plateau RV Resort at 4:30PM. The resort is located on the edge of town surrounded by red sandstone cliffs. What a great setting for an RV Resort!

Day 3 – June 4
It was partly cloudy and 68 degrees as we left Kanab and continued N on 89. The beautiful scenery continued as we drove through the heart of unique culture, architecture, history and scenery. We drove through the picturesque town of Panguitch and passed by two of Utah’s spectacular national parks, Zion and Bryce Canyon.

My favorite view was the towering Sandstone formations that have been scultped by wind and water. So interesting!

We arrived to the Beaver KOA in the early afternoon giving us an opportunity to enjoy the cooler outdoor temperatures.
I always try to capture some of the weird/odd things that we see along the way. This was parked next to us in Beaver, UT.

Tomorrow…Layton, UT
