Bangor – Bar Harbor

July 10

it was cloudy and 71 degrees when we left the RV Park to drive to Bar Harbor, Maine. By the time we reached Bar Harbor, it was raining, and foggy.  We couldn’t even see the ocean!  The weather didn’t stop other tourists…. Main Street was full of people with umbrellas and raingear.  Since we are gong to be around for six more days, we decided we would try our luck another day.

On our way back towards Bangor, we stopped at a lobsster restaurant we passed earlier, Gateway Lunt’s Lobster Pound.  Outside the restaurant, the lobster pots were boiling and the steam was rising.  There was a special on Lobster, but, we opted for the Haddock sandwich.  We were surprsed when we actually got a Haddock platter!   The food was great!

We stopped in Bangor, Maine, on our way back to the RV.  We drove to the historic district but it really didn’t have much to offer.

After driving through town, I convinced Ken that we should find the authors Stephen King’s home . The KIng home is perched on a hill high above downtown Bangor. Wrought iron gates with bats, spiders, and other creepy guests guard the Victorian mansion. The Victorian architecture makes a perfect house fit for a King.

No, I wasn’t alone when I stood outside the gates to photograph the beautiful home. Supposedly, the streets are lined with visitors every day.

The rain stoppped shortly after lunchtime and when we returned to the RV park, we were able to walk around and look at all the other campers.  It’s fun to view all the different types of RV’s, camper, 5th wheels, etc.
