Today, we are in Whitehorse, YT, staying at Pioneer RV Park. We drove from Haines Junction this morning and arrived in Whitehorse in the early afternoon. We were surprised at the emptiness of the RV Park. When we were here earlier, the park was nearly full and had 2 RV caravans registered.
We ate lunch at the Klondike Salmon and Rib…again. It is on our favorite restaurant on our list! The Halibut Fish and Chips are delicious! Since it was lunchtime and near the end of the tourist season, the restaurant was not very busy. We really enjoyed the more relaxed lunch atmosphere! They were playing great music, too!
We have seen most of the tourist attraction in Whitehorse, so we were not really looking for things to do. However, I did read about “log skyscrapers” and thought we should take a look.
During the post-war boom, housing was at a premium in Whitehorse. Martin Berrigan had a idea to blend frontier and urban living. He constructed a pair of “log skyscrapers” as the city’s first multiple-dwelling rentals. I found only on skyscraper and it is still occupied today.
Once we arrived back at the RV, Ken decided to do some research into purchasing new batteries for the RV. Guess what Ken’s is doing tomorrow?

Ken got up early this morning to purchase the new batteries for the RV. We knew the installation would take awhile so we decided to stay another day in Whitehorse. It proved to be a good decision since the installation did not go smoothly. Late in the afternoon, after a lot of troubleshooting, everything was working. I am in awe of Ken’s ability to repair what seems like almost anything!

After two days in Whitehorse, we were ready to move on down the road towards Nugget City. The rain must be behind us, because, it was another beautiful sunny day!
Today we drove 251 miles from Whitehorse to Nugget City, YT. We were still backtracking on the Alaska Highway so the scenery today was familiar. Today, was mostly sunny and the scenry was colorful. We chose Teslin, YT, as our location for lunch. We parked at the rest area overlooking the Nisutlin River and Bay Bridge. The Nisutlin Bay Bridge is the longest water span on the Alaska Highway at 1,917 feet. We passed
After lunch we continued on to Nugget City, Yukon, where we stopped for the night at the Baby Nugget RV Park.
Our Nugget City home tonight, is located at the junction of the Alaskan Highway and the Cassiar Highway which is Canada Highway 37. Tomorrow we will travel the Cassiar Highway on route to Iskut, Stewart, and Hyder.
