On the Road to Savannah we stayed one night in Bremen, GA. The only campground that we could find with good reviews was a Jellystone Park Campground…imagine us with no kids at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park!
We were sure that the campground would be loaded with families and kids, but, we were surprised! Since it rained in the afternoon, everyone was staying close to their campers and mostly inside. Once it cleared off, we were able to go for a long walk around the campground. We always seem to find something “different” or “unusual” on our walks!
Next we drove to Richmond Hill, GA. We couldn’t wait to see Lily and Carter…and of course Leslie and Gabe, too! Lily and Carter were anxiously awaiting our arrival and were so excited to see us…too cute! Leslie and Gabe have a beautiful new home…it sure looks very different with furniture, decor, and landscaping!
We were able to spend a couple of days with Lily and Carter (Leslie, Gabe} before Lindsay, Mark, Haley, and Aubrey arrived. Once they arrived, there was a lot of activity with 10 people! It was great to be able to spend time together as a family. We enjoyed swimming at the community pool and the beach at Hilton Head Island. The kids had a great time…a lot of laughing and a little crying!
Ken and I took an Old Savannah Trolley Tour to see many of the historic buildings of Savannah. We got off of the trolley on The Historic Riverfront and walked along the cobblestone street.
Leslie, Lindsay, Mark and the kids also enjoyed downtown Savannah. They walked the riverfront, shopped at the City Market, and ate lunch at the Pirates House. They had a great time but the AZ crew is not used to the high humidity!
Dinner at the Fish Tales restaurant was a great end to our stay in GA. The food was excellent! Most of us had their famous Fish Fingers while Ken tried the Low Country Boil. The food was delicious and so were the Caribbean Margaritas! As we left the restaurant, the girls stopped to dance to the music playing from the live entertainment. Of course, everyone thought they were soooo cute!
Lindsay, Mark, Haley, and Aubrey are staying a few more days and I hope they continue to make some wonderful memories!
During our visit, we stayed at the Richmond Hill KOA. I mentioned that we always find something unusual at our campgrounds and this KOA did not disappoint us! The campground lake is home to about 30 swans! They are so beautiful and fun to watch!
At the campground, we also came across this restored 1954 Flexible Clipper “Starliner” Bus!
Sadly, our trip to GA is over and it is time to get On The Road Again to….Florida!
