Since, we are big Gold Rush fans, our trip would not be complete without a drive through the goldfields! We started out at 10:30AM to see if we could find our favorite miner’s claims; Tony Beets and Parker Schnable. Hooray! We found the claims AND the Discovery Channel was filming! It was so awesome to see the rock trucks, bull dozers, trommels, and wash plants in action! Somehow, we even made it down into the stripped out hole of Parker’s mine! We think we spotted Tony Beet’s dredge…but we can’t be sure…we will have to wait for the show to air this fall.
The mining area is vast and the dirt and gravel roads are not well marked. There aren’t too many signs for direction and we got lost. Luckily, we had our GPS set to direct us “home” and we made it back to Dawson City around 6:00 PM! Exploring is what we love to do and we had a great day!

After a long day in the jeep, we decided on dinner at Sourdough Joe’s. The sign in front of the restaurant said “the best Fish and Chips in town”. Boy, that was right! They were the best we have had so far on this Alaska Adventure! It was a good thing we walked to the restaurant…we needed the exercise after that delicious meal.
