It was mostly sunny and 68 degrees as we drove out of the Beaver UT KOA. We left the two- lane highway behind and took I-15 towards Salt Lake City. We’ve made this trip many times and so the sights along the freeway were very familiar. As we continued north, we began to see snow on the mountain peaks in the distance.

Near Provo, we passed the Young Living Lavendar Farm…no lavendar today! Continuing on, I spotted the Provo Utah Mormon Temple. It is one of the busiest temples in the world. Every time we drive through Provo, I try to get a Photo of the temple. I can never get a great shot and I think all my photos look the same!

What is that? In Draper, UT, there was an unusual structure on the left side of the freeway. I snapped a few photos and did a quick google search. The structure is called “The Claw” and it is a permanent landmark at the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium. “The Claw” is a 165-ft-tall, four-legged touring stage for the international rock band U2. It was used during the group’s 360 Tour from 2009 to 2011. It definitely caught our eye!

We continued on through SLC and arrived at our destination, Layton, UT located along the Wasatch Front between Salt Lake City to the south and Ogden to the north.
Valley View RV Resort was today’s choice for our one night stay. And, it was a GREAT choice…the resort was beautiful with reallyvery nice amenities; two pickle-ball courts, a picnic area, a tot lot, community fire pit, a large dog park, multiple laundry facilities and a clubhouse with a full kitchen. The resort was located near Hill Air Force Base, one of the busiest airfields in the Air Force with approximately 45,000 operations annually. We had a front row seat to our own private air show with picnic table seating! Yes, the jet noise was LOUD!

” Airshow” over Valley View RV Resort

After 4 days on the road, we finally unhitched the Jeep. We took a quick look through town and picked up a few groceries. Layton was a great place for us to stop and we will definitely consider this resort again.
Next Stop…Pocatello
