Today we drove to Traverse City. The Annual Cherry Festival is in full swing and will continue through the weekend. Since it is the fourth of July, we were pretty sure we wouldn’t be able to find a good parking spot. The Fireworks display was scheduled for 10:30PM. As we passed through the town, the streets were already lined with cars, motorhomes, chairs, picnic tables, etc. Everyone was there to stay through the end of the fireworks!

Since we couldn’t park in Traverse City, it seemed like a good day for Wine Tasting. We chose the Grand Traverse Chateau Winery. Both Ken and I like sweet wine, so we wanted to try some of the wine made with the local Cherry’s. Our wine tasting allowed us a choice of five wines and we liked them all. Our hostess even let us try the Cherry Sangria which we had not selected. I was especially interested in the Festival Wine. We learned that the winery makes the Festival Wine for the Annual Cherry Festival. Every year is it is made with different amounts of alcohol and fruit. The 2018 Festival Wine was excellent! We ended up purchasing a case of various wines and got our wine tasting for free! Now, we have to find a place to put it in the RV!

We passed a U-Pick Cherry Orchard on our way back to the RV Park. We decided to stop and do some Cherry Picking! They weren’t the cheapest cherries, but, it was fun to pick (and eat) as we filled our cherry bucket!

I noticed that our RV neighbors had Indiana License plates and I was anxious to find out where they were from in Indiana. We were surprised to find out that they had lived in Columbus, IN! We even had mutual acquaintences. After further discussions, we learned that Brenda (the wife) was actually from Terre Haute and attended Indiana State. It truly is a small world!
