Today was our third travel day. We left the Ute Mountain Rv Resort around 11AM and drove 12 miles to Cortez, CO. In Cortez, highway 145 climbed into the scrub covered San Juan foothills and arrived at Dolores, a small town next to the Dolores River. We continued on highway 145 for 25 miles to our destination; Priest Gulch Campground and RV Park.

We checked in and were guided to our site by a camp host. He gave us the Grand Tour, by driving all the way through the campground to arrive at our site. We have a large back-in site on the river. It is a gorgeous setting! After getting settled in, we did some exploring around the park. Across the river from our site, is a hillside covered with large painted river rock. Campground guests through the years have painted the rocks in bright colors and labeled them with their names, city, and dates of their visits. It is very interesting to see who has spent time here in the past!
Exploring Priest Gulch Campground
We ended our evening, enjoying a nice visit with our neighbors. JR and Jane are workcampers and are staying at the park for the summer. This is their 2nd year at this park and they are a very knowledgeable regarding things to see and do in the area!
Tomorrow, we will check out one of the jeep trails recommended by our neighbors! It better be good and not too scary!
