The Bachelor Loop
It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day in Creede! According to the weather forecast, it might the only nice day during our 7 day stay.
We drove into dowtown Creede and walked up and down the historic Main Street. We/I ventured into the shops (several were closed). There were a wide range of stores; sporting goods, jewelry, gourmet shops, clothing, art galleries, and photography studios. Business was very slow and many restauratnt and store owners were sitting outside their shops. Last year when we were in Creede, we were told it was the end of the season. I think this year, it is the beginning of the season.
Back at the RV, we enjoyed the beautiful weather by sitting outside in the sunshine. It was one of the few times on this trip that we have been able to sit outside and relax!
Later in the afternoon, we drove the Historic Bachelor Loop. The loop is a 17-mile loop that begins and ends in town. There were some narrow stretches and steep grades, but, we managed with no problems. We drove 2000 feet above Creede and were able to see remnants of the mining past. We drove past mines that were part of the 1890’s Silver Boom.
Hopefully, the weather forecast for the remainder of the week is wrong!
