Back in 1982, we traveled to Pensacola, FL via Memphis. As we approached Memphis, we could hear truckers on their CB radios talking about traffic congestion near Graceland. The congestion was due to the opening of the Graceland Museum to the Public. Graceland…what’s Graceland? We had no idea what they were talking about! Now, thirty-six years later, we decided to find out!
During our stay, we parked our RV at the Tom Sawyer’s RV Park situated on the Mississippi River in a serene, unspoiled natural setting. Our RV site was only feet from the edge of the river bank. We saw numerous river boat barges traveling up and down the river. We could hear the hum of the barges all night long!

We purchased tickets for the Elvis Experience Tour. The tour included the Mansion tour and exhibits. The included exhibits were: automobiles, wardrobe, gold records, and items from the Graceland Archives. The tour began with a movie about the life of Elvis Presley. At the conclusion of the movie, we stepped outside to board a bus to the Mansion. The tour was an interactive Ipad tour hosted by John Stamos. The Mansion tour included the living room, the parents bedroom, the kitchen, the TV room, the pool room, the Jungle Room, the office, the trophy building, the Racquetball building, and Meditation Garden (gravesites).

After the Mansion Tour, we returned to the Elvis Presley Memphis Entertainment Complex to view the exhibits.

The Mansion and Exhibits were fun and interesting to see, but, it was not something that we need to do again.
At trip to Memphis would not be complete without walking down Beale Street. Unsure of the area, we decided to check it out during the daytime hours. It didn’t seem too crowded or crazy so we returned in the evening.

One of the most popular nightspots is BB Kings Blues Club. We paid the cover charge and got a front row table. Blues and Soul are not really are style, but, it was a fun evening.

We stopped at a couple of RV dealers in the area to get a price quote on a 2019 Tiffin Allegro Bus. Both dealers were competitive on the pricing and both were extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. We have decisions to make when we return home!
Memphis takes great pride in it’s Barbecue. Memphis Style Barbecue is one of the four types of Barbecue in the US. One of the RV dealers recommended the Memphis Barbecue CO, and we were anxious to try it for lunch! The company has thousands of awards and 10 World Championships to their credit. What can I say? It was delicious!

We wrapped up our Memphis visit and are heading Back Home Again in Indiana!
