Red Bay, Alabama

25 Jun

During our stay in Indiana, we developed a stress crack near the rear slide-out in our motorhome.  Since we were heading East, we decided to drive to Red Bay, Alabama and try to get the crack repaired.  The Tiffin Motorhome factory is in Red Bay and they have a huge service center with a on site campground.  We checked in on Saturday afternoon with hopes of getting our repairs done quickly.  The service center does not take appointments and the work is done on a first come first served basis.   There are lots of stories about folks waiting up to 6 weeks to get work done on their motorhome.  The sad thing is…I believe the stories are true!

The service Center is very Large with about 50 service bays in operation.

We woke up early on Monday morning anticipating a visit from “Norris”(a Tiffin worker)  to check out our list of work to be completed.  Much to our surprise, he said that the body shop was in “good shape” and we could get in for repair in just a few minutes. Bay 22 was our “daytime home” for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning while the tech used his skill, and tools to grind, sand, patch, paint, and buff  our motorhome.

By 8:30AM Wednesday morning, our body work was complete!  The best part…it was warranty work, which means no out of pocket cost!

Now we can get “On The Road Again”…towards Savannah, GA!
