Sign, Sign, Everywhere a Sign

Day 16

July 25, 2019

Today was a beautiful day to travel on the Alaska Highway.  When we left our campsite at Liard Hot Springs, it was sunny and 61 degrees.  Hooray!

We crossed into Yukon Territory and stopped at Watson Lake.  Watson Lake, is the home of the Sign Post Forest.  Visitors from all over the world bring signs with their name, city, state, etc. and post them on wooden posts wherever there is an empty spot.  There are more than 70.000 signs posted in the “forest”.  When we visited in 2011, Ken brought one of our old AZ licesnse Plates and put a label with our name, month, and year we visited.  In 2012, we updated the plate with another label.  This time we didn’t bring a sign, but, we were anxious find our previous one.  I looked at an old photo to get an idea of where we placed our sign.  The photo helped!  It only took us about 5 minutes to find our sign!  That was amazing!  Of course our labels were gone…they were paper…and it has been 7 years!   It was amazing to walk around and see all of the signs from all over the world!  Yes, there were a few from AZ!

Leaving the Sign Post Forest, we drove 20 minutes to the Baby Nugget RV Park.  We stayed here before and thought it would be a better choice that staying in Downtown Watson Lake.  Wrong!  We didn’t get a 50 amp site, the cable didn’t work, and the wifi wasn’t strong enough to make it to our site. Ken was not happy!  We had been off the grid for 2 days and he couldn’t wait to catch up on the news.  Somehow, he worked a miracle, and we were able to recieve the wifi signal in our RV.  That’s how I am able to catch up on my blogging!,
