2018 Summer Adventure July 15 – 21 Richmond Hill, GA

Wow!  It’s been awhile since my last blog post. How good is my memory?  Let me see if I can retrace the days missing from the blog.

Leaving Stone Mountain, we traveled to Richmond Hill, GA to visit the Miritellos…Leslie (daughter), Gabe, Lily, Carter and Cody.

While visiting our family in Richmond Hill, we stayed at the Savannah KOA for one week.  We were surprised to see that RV  spaces were available every night during our stay.  On our past visits, the campground was always full. We learned that there was a new campground in the area and speculated that it was chipping away at the KOA business. I think that competition is good…it keeps everyone on their toes!

During our visit, the weather was hot, humid, and rainy.  We were only able to go the pool one time and never made it to the beach! We found a few other activities to keep us busy.

Bowling

Carter’s pre-k teacher put together a bowling play date for the class and their siblings.  It was so much fun watching the kids throw the balls down the alley.  Sometimes, they got lucky with some strikes and spares!

RV Sleep Overs

Our grandchildren, Lily and Carter, always ask if they can stay overnight in the RV.  Before we arrived, I decided that on this trip, we would let each child (Lily and Carter) stay in the RV for one night.  It would be a special treat, and easier for us! I took LIly to the grocery store and let her pick out the treats for their overnight stays. She picked; Klondike Bars, Oreo Cookies, powdered donuts, Entemann’s Cholcolate donuts, and Drumstick Ice Cream Cones for Papa.  Yes, I let her get all that “junk” food.  I’m the grandma, what else can I say?  I’m guessing that they think RV life is very boring…eating, watching TV, playing on the tablet, watching movies, and sleeping to the sound of raindrops on the rooftop.  Actually, I think they enjoyed their alone time and It was fun for us to have each one separately.  They were so much different when they were away from home!

Back-to-School Shopping

Leslie, Lily, and I went on a back-to-school shopping trip. We shopped at the Outlet Mall in Pooler, GA, and found  school clothes for everyone!

Build-A-Bear Workshop

We had another fun afternoon at Build a Bear Workshop.  The kids had been begging to go to the store to take advantage of some coupons they had received. It was fun watching them make their individual bears.  I think they did a great job!

Family Dinner

We had a family dinner at a Fish Tales, a favorite restaurant of ours near Leslie’s.  We usually walk out on the pier to look at the fish and boats, but it was pouring rain both when we arrived and we finished.   The rain didn’t prevent us from having great family fun and great food!

Look at those boats!

Saying Good-Bye is hard and sad, but, it was time to move on down the road.  Our next stop…Summerfield, FL to visit some old friends.
