Instead of driving on to Rapid City, we decided to stay in Wall SD and see the Badlands National Park. After checking into the Sleeping Hollow RV Park, we drove just a few miles to the Badlands entrance and purchased our America the Beautiful National Park Pass. Now that we are both 62 we are eligible for Senior lifetime Pass for $10. Woo Hoo!
We stopped at the Badlands National Park Signs to take pictures. We try to stop and take sign pictures at every national park we visit.
We followed the Badlands Loop Scenic Byway which is a 32 mile drive through Badlands National Park. The roadway took us past sharply eroded buttes, pinnacles and spires, created by volcanic ash, flooding, wind and rain erosion. In addition to the eroded rocky terrain, we found areas of mixed grass prairie. As we continued on the loop we saw Bison, Prairie Dogs, and Deer.
Badlands National Park is a stunning landscape that is barren and beautiful!
