Fort Meyers, Florida

11 Aug

Leaving Navarre Beach on June 14, we drove all day to Fort Meyers and arrived around 6PM.  On Saturday, we were notified that Ken’s dad, Max, had taken a bad fall and had been admitted into the hospital.  After lots of testing and several doctor consults, Max was released from the hospital a few days later to recover comfortably at home.

The Woodsmoke Camping Resort was our home location for 1 month stay…this was our 3rd summer visit at this location. Floridians  are always amazed that we trade the AZ dry heat for the Florida humidity and summer rain!  Ken is more fond of the humidity than me…I like the AZ dry heat!    Our month went by quickly and was filled with family time and of course some beach time.   At our favorite Little Hickory Beach, we enjoyed the sun, warm gulf water, and completed several books.

On the fourth of July we decided to go to Little Hickory Beach in hopes to be able to view the fireworks from Naples and Fort Meyers.  As we waited for the sunset and the fireworks to begin, the beach began to fill up with     families arriving with beach chairs and buckets of fireworks!  Once darkness set it, Fireworks were exploding  everywhere!  We both agreed that the fireworks display was among some of the best we have ever experienced. It was so much fun!

We will be on the road again soon and traveling towards Georgia!  We can’t wait to see The Miritellos…Leslie, Lily, Carter, and Gabe!
