Amarillo – Day 2

June 6, 2015

Originally, we planned to stay in Amarillo only one night, but, changed our minds after talking to some of the other RV’ers. We met several nice couples; Floridians, Canadians, British. Some of them were staying one week and others 2-3 days. Fortunately, we were able to extend our stay for 1 more day.

A highly recommended side trip near Amarillo was an 18 mile drive into the second largest canyon in the US, Palo Duro Canyon. We made the trip and I am sad to say that we were underwhelmed. It was beautiful, but, it was very different from other canyons we have seen. It does not compare to Zion, Bryce, or The Grand Canyon.

In Amarillo, we looked for some historic homes and drove on the original Mother Road…Route 66.

We spent our last evening in Amarillo, talking with several of the folks we met at the RV Park.
It was fun chatting… until the bugs started biting!

Tomorrow…Dallas!
