On The Road Again…Summer 2015

The summer heat finally arrived in AZ and it is time to hit the road for our Summer Adventure.  It was tough to say goodbye to our AZ family…Lindsay, Mark, Haley, and Aubrey.  We will definitely miss them this summer, but it is time to do some traveling and catch up with the rest of our family in Indiana, Georgia, and Florida.  Here we come, ready or not!

We pulled away from home at 11:30AM and began our drive towards Flagstaff.  The temperature was a warm 97 degrees and will only get hotter in the coming weeks.  As we made our way further north, the temperature began to cool down and it became quite breezy.

There are not many RV parks between Phoenix and Flagstaff that will accommodate our 43 foot motor home.  We decided to drive 20 miles  past Flagstaff and stay at the Twin Arrows Navajo Casino Resort on the Navajo/Hopi Indian Reservation.  The weather continued to be windy and cool in northern Arizona and we enjoyed a nice breeze blowing through the motor home.

Twin Arrows Casino

Ken and I are not big gamblers and not very lucky, so, we thought about not even going into the casino.  But, our curiosity got the best of us and we decided to walk over to the casino for a look around.  It is one of the newer Indian casinos and was very nice, but, not very busy.  My usual casino visits consists of putting $20 into a slot machine and walk away 2 minutes later a loser.  Today, Ken played on a poker machine while I looked around for a slot machine.   I spotted a 1 cent slot machine and thought… why not?  I wanted to see how long $5 would last…it turned out that it did not last very long!  Surprise!  I was a winner and walked away with $56 in about 2 minutes!  Unfortunately, Ken didn’t win but at least he did break even.  That was enough gambling for us!

Back at the motor home, we enjoyed the cool breeze and an evening of Satellite TV!

Tomorrow, we will drive to Albuquerque, NM.
