Good-bye Yellowstone

23 Aug

Yesterday was our last day of our  West Yellowstone and Yellowstone Park trip.  We cruised around the small town of West Yellowstone and made a video on Ken’s GoPro.  It didn’t take long to make the video, since the town is very small.  On our previous trips to the area, we visited the assortment of stores, art galleries and specialty shops, but today we only went to 2 stores.  We didn’t feel like trolling the streets or shopping in the rain.

The rain settled in early and we decided not to drive into the park.  It is not too much fun sightseeing in the rain.  Between rain showers, we walked around our RV Park.  We always like to see the different types of camping vehicles!

Today we drove through Yellowstone Park towards the South Entrance/Exit and into the Grand Teton National Park.  We could not see the Teton Mountains, very well, because of the rain and dark clouds.  No pictures of the mountains on this trip!

We continued on to Jackson, Wyoming.  As usual the town was bustling with tourists.  We drove through town towards our destination of Thayne, WY.  At 1:12 PM we were startled with an Emergency Alert from our cell phones.  There was a Tornado Warning issued and in effect until 2PM.  At least we were in wide open territory and we could see the sky for miles.  We spotted some very dark clouds, but were lucky that nothing severe developed.

We checked into the Wolf Den RV Park in Thayne, WY.  We spend the rest of the day snuggled in the  RV to keep warm and dry.  A fireplace would be nice!  Yes, it is raining again!
